Communication through institutional media – Interview to Roberto Natale

Posted by Giobi on August 28, 2009 under Interviews | Be the First to Comment

Roberto Natale is the current President of the National Italian Press Federation (FNSI).

Referring to 2009 Report by Freedom House and Reporter Sans Frontieres, International Supervisory Bodies for Press Freedom in the world, we see that Italy has been placed only on 44th position, and cited as a Country “not totally free”. Discover what’s Roberto Natale’s point of view as regards the freedom press in Italy: what are the choices made by Media about the news/information to deal with in their schedules?

The International Millenium Development Goals Agreement, signed by the Advanced Countries of the World, ask for a coherence between declarations and actions. What’s the role of Media Communication in promoting, among common people, a Culture for Global Development Agenda?

Roberto Natale points attention at some recent Italian news, related to Ddl Alfano and Subscription for Fondazione Fava, highlighting the risk for an additional reduction of Press Freedom in Italy.

He suggests and strongly acts, through FNSI initiatives, to promote a cultural reconversion of current journalism, so to induce journalists and Directors of Media to make a different choice of the news selected in their schedules. He also supports the role of education made in the schools, in order to teach young students the importance of reading newspapers and the way how to read news with criticism. It’s common people who can make their choices, and decide how much important is “the news about hot weather in summer and cold weather in winter, compared to the news about international crisis and the analysis of their causes”.
