MDGs 2010: forum with Piero Fassino (Italy, Pd)
In the opinion of Piero Fassino, responsible for Foreign Affairs (Italy, Pd), providing 0.7% of GDP (PIL in italian language) for Development is a “wise policy”, essentially for two reasons. “The first is an economic reason: if the Developing Countries improve their conditions, all the world economy may derive benefit from that – he says – The second reason involves the security. Everybody knows the best way to stop immigration is that of improving the conditions of life in the Countries from where so many people are running away at present”. As consequence, he complaints a lot about the current contribution by Italian Government, that is only 0.1% of its GDP.
